Bent Lamination

Clamp pressure is crucial. Start lightly in the middle and let excess glue seep out. You may need to tap gently with a mallet to keep strips in place. Allow the piece to sit overnight, then fill any gaps with epoxy and sand the edges.

Steam Bending

Steam the wood until it's pliable, then quickly move it to a prepared bending form. Timing varies based on wood thickness, typically 30 minutes to several hours. The wood is ready when it bends easily without resistance.
Keep the bent piece in place while it cools and sets. Expect some "spring-back," so slightly overbend your piece. Steam bending excels in projects needing natural curves without visible seams, like curved chair backs or musical instrument parts.
